Shock Absorber Type 632 TS Competition
Originally, the Harley Davidson Nightster RH975 was equipped with linear fork springs. These have been replaced by Wilbers with progressive springs, providing a much better initial response and greater reserve in the second spring rate.
The rear shocks are slightly underdamped from the factory, which makes it feel as though you are riding only on the spring. This leads to handling that feels “spongy” and imprecise. The Wilbers solution corrects this by using progressive springs with a matched block value on the suspension struts, creating the same positive effect as the fork springs.
In combination with optimized rebound and compression damping, this results in a significant increase in comfort. The motorcycle rides more safely and with greater stability after the Wilbers conversion.
With the same seat height, we were able to increase suspension travel from 76 mm to 82 mm. With a 10 mm increase in height, the total travel rises to 93 mm.
After a facelift, our Type 632 shock absorber now features its compression tank mounted on a high-quality milled aluminum bracket. A new “blow-off” compression valve combines high- and low-speed circuits, making the shock absorber more compact and even more versatile. With a setup range of 22 clicks, adjustment is both easy and precise — whether you prefer a sporty or comfortable ride. Continuously adjustable spring preload and 22-click rebound damping remain standard features. In addition, radial piston technology and wet-run guidance ensure sensitive response and maximum longevity.
