


Shock Absorber Type 642 Competition
The Honda NT 1100 / SC84 comes with progressive fork springs where the first rate is too soft and the second too hard; a poor block value makes the second rate engage too quickly. Stock fork damping is also sub-optimal. Wilbers uses a slightly firmer initial rate with a softer, progressive second rate and optimizes the block value, resulting in a markedly better fork response.
The OEM shock’s progressive spring also has a poor block value, leaving the rider stuck in the overly stiff second rate. Combined with the progressive linkage, comfort suffers. Wilbers fits a linear spring and optimizes rebound and compression damping for maximum comfort. We also correct excessive negative travel by building the shock slightly shorter; thanks to the adjusted negative travel, seat height remains unchanged while handling and safety improve.
The ultimate shock configuration: a milled upper mount with integrated high-/low-speed compression adjusters (22 clicks each), a pressure-relief valve to prevent hydraulic blocking, 22-click external rebound adjustment, and stepless spring preload.
