On the Honda NC 750 XA/XS (RH09), the seat height was reduced from 830 mm to 800 mm compared to its predecessor. The factory fork uses progressive springs, but the first spring rate is too soft and transitions too early to a second rate that is overly stiff. The Wilbers setup replaces these with slightly firmer initial springs and softer, progressive secondary springs, resulting in a smoother and more controlled fork response.

The stock rear shock features a progressive spring with a poor block value, keeping the second, overly stiff spring constantly engaged. The Wilbers solution replaces it with a linear spring, paired with optimized rebound and compression damping, for a more balanced ride.

The suspension geometry on the front and rear axles has been refined by adjusting the negative spring deflections to correct the factory’s overly high values. This leads to improved handling, comfort, and safety, while maintaining the original seat height.

This shock absorber connects its compression tank to the main body using a flexible steel hose, making it an ideal option for motorcycles with limited space. The hose can be positioned freely where space and airflow allow, such as along the rear frame, providing additional cooling. The external high- and low-speed compression adjusters, each offering 22 clicks, are easily accessible. Rebound damping can be fine-tuned through an open-bleed system with 22 clicks, and the spring preload is continuously adjustable.
