Shock Absorber Type 640 Road
The Triumph Tiger Sport 660 is equipped with linear fork springs from the factory. The Wilbers solution upgrades these to progressive fork springs, resulting in significantly improved responsiveness and much greater reserve in the second spring rate compared to the stock linear design. The standard fork also exhibits slightly excessive rebound damping, which is corrected in the Wilbers setup for smoother performance.
The stock rear shock absorber uses a progressive spring with a very poor block value, causing the rider to constantly ride in the second, overly stiff spring rate. This makes the motorcycle feel harsh and unstable. The Wilbers conversion replaces it with a linear spring, paired with optimized rebound and compression damping, providing noticeably better road feedback, improved comfort, and enhanced riding stability.
To balance the Tiger Sport 660’s rear-heavy setup, Wilbers increases the negative spring travel accordingly, achieving a more neutral and composed suspension geometry.
The basic edition of the Wilbers Adjustline mono shock absorber features the same advanced technology as the more complex versions. The only difference is the omission of the compression reservoir and, therefore, the ability to adjust high- and low-speed compression. Despite this, it makes no compromises in response behavior or durability. The radial piston, wet-run operation, and Teflon-guided self-aligning bearings redefine the standard of quality for a mono shock. As usual, the spring preload can be continuously adjusted, and the rebound damping can be fine-tuned via an open-bleed system in 22 clicks. The shock absorber can also be retrofitted with numerous Wilbers accessories.
