Shock Absorber Type 640 Road
The Kawasaki ZX-6R (ZX636G) comes equipped with linear fork springs from the factory. The Wilbers conversion also utilizes linear fork springs, but with a slightly higher spring rate for improved performance. Additionally, the conversion uses Wilbers Zero Friction fork oil with an adjusted air chamber, optimizing damping, negative spring travel, and overall response behavior.
Due to the ZX-6R’s track-oriented design, Wilbers offers fork springs in various spring rates to match different riding styles and preferences. For assistance in selecting the ideal spring rate, please contact our support team.
The stock Kawasaki ZX-6R is delivered with slightly excessive negative spring travel. The Wilbers shock absorber corrects this with a minimally shorter strut, maintaining the same seat height as the original suspension. The OEM shock also exhibits excessive rebound damping; the Wilbers version refines both rebound and compression damping for more balanced performance.
This optimization results in a wider adjustment range than the stock suspension and delivers smoother ride quality, enhanced handling, and improved safety.
The basic edition of the Wilbers Adjustline mono shock absorber features the same advanced technology as the more complex models. The only difference is the omission of the compression reservoir and, therefore, the ability to adjust high- and low-speed compression. Despite this, it makes no compromises in response behavior or durability. The radial piston, wet-run operation, and Teflon-guided self-aligning bearings redefine the standard for shock quality. As usual, the spring preload can be continuously adjusted, and the rebound damping can be fine-tuned via an open-bleed system in 22 clicks. The shock absorber can also be retrofitted with numerous Wilbers accessories.
