Shock Absorber Type 640 Road
The standard fork offers relatively poor response characteristics. In combination with SKF oil seals, the Wilbers solution delivers a noticeably smoother and more precise fork response.
On the rear shock, the spring rate has been refined using a slightly softer spring combined with optimized rebound and compression damping. This setup provides improved comfort and control across varying road conditions.
The suspension geometry on both the front and rear axles has been sensibly refined and optimized by adjusting the negative spring travel. The stock configuration features excessive negative deflection, which we correct using a slightly shorter suspension strut. This ensures that the original seat height is retained while achieving better balance and handling.
Altogether, these improvements result in smoother ride quality, enhanced handling precision, and greater overall safety.
The basic edition of the Wilbers Adjustline mono shock absorber incorporates the same high-end technology as the more complex models. The only difference is the omission of the compression reservoir, and therefore, the option to adjust high- and low-speed compression. Despite this, it makes no compromises in response behavior or durability. The radial piston, wet-run design, and Teflon-guided self-aligning bearings redefine what a standard shock can achieve. As usual, the spring preload can be continuously adjusted, and the rebound damping can be fine-tuned via an open-bleed system with 22 clicks. The shock absorber can also be retrofitted with a variety of Wilbers accessories.
