Shock Absorber Type 640 Road
The Wilbers suspension conversion provides a noticeably improved fork response. This is achieved by replacing the stock linear fork springs with progressive ones, allowing for a smoother initial reaction and greater reserve in the second spring rate.
The original shock absorber has relatively high rebound damping. In our setup, the spring rate has been slightly increased and both rebound and compression damping optimized. Additionally, the suspension geometry of the front and rear axles has been refined through precise adjustment of negative spring travel, offering improved stability and comfort. The conversion also provides a significantly wider adjustment range than the original equipment.
The basic edition of the Wilbers Adjustline mono shock absorber shares the same technology as the more complex models, but omits the compression reservoir and the option for high- and low-speed compression adjustment. Nevertheless, it offers uncompromising response behavior and durability. With its radial piston, wet-run design, and Teflon-guided self-aligning bearings, it sets a new standard for quality. As usual, spring preload can be continuously adjusted, and rebound damping can be fine-tuned via an open-bleed system with 22 clicks. The shock can also be upgraded with a range of Wilbers accessories.

Can’t rave enough about the set-up! Two weeks after installation, I went on a 9 day ride from Staten Island NY to Key West FL and back, with various stops in between.
