Shock Absorber Type 631 Competition
The Honda CB 750 Hornet comes with linear fork springs that are a bit too firm for their intended use. The Wilbers conversion therefore uses progressive fork springs, which provide a significantly better response and more reserve in the second spring rate compared to the standard setup.
On the rear shock, a relatively hard spring is fitted from the factory, which for most riders barely compresses over potholes and bumps. The Wilbers solution uses a slightly softer spring with optimized rebound and compression damping, making the Hornet much more stable and comfortable to ride.
The negative spring deflections are slightly too low in the stock configuration, both front and rear. Wilbers corrects this issue. Due to the slightly longer design of the Wilbers shock absorber, the rider’s seat height remains at the standard level.
With compression tank on a flexible steel hose, the Wilbers Adjustline Type 631 shock absorber is ideal for motorcycles with limited space. The compression reservoir is connected to the shock absorber by a flexible steel hose — hose length and mounting angles can be chosen individually so that the reservoir always finds its optimal position, for example on the rear frame where the slipstream provides additional cooling.
The compression tank houses screws for tuning high- and low-speed compression damping in 22 clicks. At maximum compression speed, a pressure control valve prevents the shock absorber from hydraulic locking. Adjustment options for rebound, compression, and spring preload give you maximum control over your suspension.
