Shock Absorber Type 641 Competition
In its standard form, the vehicle’s suspension has too much damping in the fork and too little in the rear shock, which reduces direct road feedback. Wilbers replaces the original linear fork springs with progressive ones, providing a much more responsive initial movement and greater reserve in the second, stiffer spring rate. With simultaneous adjustment of the fork oil and air chamber, the overall setup is precisely balanced for optimal performance.
The suspension geometry at both the front and rear axles has been refined through careful adjustment of the negative spring deflections. The stock configuration featured slightly excessive negative travel, which is corrected with a minimally shorter shock absorber that maintains the original seat height. Rebound and compression damping have also been optimized for smoother, safer handling.
This shock absorber connects its compression tank to the main body using a flexible steel hose, making it ideal for motorcycles with limited space. The hose can be positioned where space and airflow allow, such as along the rear frame, providing extra cooling. The external high- and low-speed compression adjusters, each offering 22 clicks, are easily accessible. Rebound damping can be fine-tuned through an open-bleed system with 22 clicks, and the spring preload is continuously adjustable.

Haven't ridden yet, I had to wait on inner fork tubes but the seals look well made
Bryan, Mike and Frank and the crew were great work with to help get my YSS re302 sorted with a better spring rate. (46-13-28-180mm) Yesterday I went down a very chattery road and was surprised how much smoother the ride was. I recommend working with EPM Performance.
I installed this on a 2022 RC390 that I use for a track day bike. I could not be more pleased with the performance of this shock it is a huge upgrade over stock. within two laps I was on my previous year PB lap time with far less effort. Out of the box first impression was WOW! this is a well made very nice piece of kit, installation was a Breeze. For anyone on a budget like Myself trying to improve your bike and skill you cant go wrong with this for the price. My hat is off to YSS for producing a shock like this for guys like me.
