Shock Absorber Type 641 Competition
Originally, the fork was fitted with linear springs. These have been replaced by progressive fork springs, which offer a much better initial response and provide more reserve in the second spring rate compared to the stock setup. The rear shock features a slightly stiffer spring combined with optimized rebound and compression damping for improved control.
The suspension geometry on both the front and rear axles has been sensibly refined by adjusting the negative spring travel. The stock setup had slightly excessive negative travel, which has been corrected using a minimally shorter suspension strut while maintaining the original seat height. The result is more precise handling, greater comfort, and improved safety.
This shock absorber connects its compression tank to the main body using a flexible steel hose, making it an ideal choice for motorcycles with limited installation space. The hose can be routed where there is sufficient room — for example, along the rear frame — where airflow also aids in cooling. The external adjustment screws for high- and low-speed compression, each with 22 clicks, are easily accessible. Rebound damping can be adjusted via an open-bleed system with 22 clicks, and the spring preload is continuously adjustable.
