They are manufactured from hardened steel and coated with copper for added protection. The contact surfaces are a PTFE material designed to give low friction on the moving parts. It's a drastic improvement over the stock springs and a reasonable price. The booklet was descriptive which I was a little worried about. The bike handles a lot better on corners and especially stopping. The old springs are shockingly soft.
